I've been reading this one and it's doing my head in a bit, in the best way. Turns out nostalgia used to be classed as a disease that could genuinely kill people, before it got repackaged as the warm fuzzy thing we all feel about Argos catalogues and Analog Music Players now. Arnold-Forster traces how it went from a fatal 17th century Swiss illness to the exact tool advertisers and politicians reach for now. Given I spend most of my working life mining nostalgia for a living, it's been a properly useful (and slightly uncomfortable) read.
